Pruning bonsai is one of the most important aspects of growing bonsai trees. It ensures that your bonsai plant stays in proper shape and looks beautiful. A combination of leaf and root pruning makes the plant grow with the realms of the bonsai pot thus enabling it to stay small for the entirety of its life. For a good job out of pruning bonsai, it needs to have the right set of tools and the usages. Here are some of the basic tools that you have to use in pruning bonsai:
- Wire Cutter: Wiring exercise is very important in pruning bonsai. You need to have proper bonsai wire and wire cutters to help you succeed in wiring bonsai. Choose a wire cutter which has the sharp edge at the tip and not near the hinge.
- Pruning saws: This tool will assist you in cutting down tough branches. A good saw would cut the branch on the pull stroke rather than the push stroke. It is the safety both for you and the bonsai.
- Root Hook: This tool helps you to comb out tough, entangled roots so that you could prune or trim them easily. To clean out clay from the roots, it will become easier with a root hook.
- Trimming Shears: These tools allow you to cut delicate branches with precision. Beside that, it can help you with root trimming exercise.
- Branch Cutter: This tool will help you in incurring minimal damage to the bonsai. Pruning of branches is very important for the plant, if we done with improper tools then the bad result would take the bonsai to die.
