Hydroponic
Hydroponics is a technology for growing plants in nutrient solutions (water containing fertilizers) with or without the use of an artificial medium (sand, gravel, vermiculite, rockwool, perlite, peatmoss. Coir, or sawdust) to provide mechanical support. Hydroponic systems have no other supporting medium for the plant roots.
Systems have a solid medium of support. Hydroponic systems are further categorized as. , once the nutrient solution is delivered to the plant roots, it is not reused) or. , surplus solution is recovered, replenished, and recycled). In combination with greenhouses, it is high technology and capital-intensive.

All hydroponicsystems in temperate regions of the world are enclosed ingreenhouse-type structures to provide temperature control, reduceevaporative water loss, and to reduce disease and pestinfestations.
The principal advantages ofhydroponic controlled environment agriculture (cea) includehigh-density maximum crop yield, crop production where nosuitable soil exists, a virtual indifference to ambienttemperature and seasonality, more efficient use of water andfertilizers, minimal use of land area, and suitability formechanization, disease and pest control. The major advantage ofhydroponic (cea) compared to field grown produce is the isolationof the crop from the soil, which often has problems of diseases,pests, salinity, poor structure and/or drainage.
Hydroponics is a way of growing plants without soil.
